An epic musical experience featuring iconic women artists coming together for the cause of uplifting rural youth, especially girls.
The Concert
Maargaa 2024 goes beyond being just a concert, it’s a musical journey that’s diverse, electrifying and simply unforgettable. The three part format curated by popular music producer and presenter Subhashree Thanikachalam will showcase classical virtuoso Sudha Raghunathan, the evergreen Usha Uthup and hugely influential folk artiste Mangli in half hour segments. The three artistes will join together for a grand finale, showcasing a melding of styles, the formal meeting the energetic and the earthy, much like the work of Swadha Foundation.

Padma Bhushan Sudha Ragunathan
As a prominent vocalist in the carnatic music tradition, Sudha Ragunathan’s voice enthralls listeners from around the world. Among the first in her generation to receive many prestigious awards including the Padmabhushan and the Sangita Kalanidhi, her mastery over vocal techniques and complicated styles makes her one of the most sought after artists. Sudha has performed a range of concerts and festivals worldwide, and has released over 200 albums with leading recording companies like AVM, INRECO, Vani and Amutham.

Padma Bhushan Usha Uthup
For over 50 years now, Usha Uthup has spread the message of love and unity, peace and harmony, tolerance and integrity, and happiness - through music. From discotheques to concerts across India and the world, she has addressed the youth about the values of music that makes us human. She lives as she believes, presenting even the most contemporary songs dressed in traditional attire projecting the fact that India is a true melting pot of world cultures with its own distinctive cultural identity.

Mangli
Satyavathi Chauhan popularly known as Mangli is an acclaimed folk and film playback singer. She has also carved a niche in the world of spiritual and traditional music. Her voice has been heard pan India in Telugu, Tamizh, Kannada, Banjara, Hindi, Marathi and Tulu. Her independent folk songs have garnered over 3 billion hits on YouTube. She is famous for wearing the Banjara attire, giving herself a distinct appearance and bringing international recognition to it.

Subhasree Thanikachalam
is a Tamil Film Music Enthusiast, researches Music, promotes talent, curates shows and produces events. Her musical show “Quarantine From Reality” was an international hit during the pandemic and has completed 600 episodes. In 2000, she moved on to start her own company MAXIMUM MEDIA, with her musician friend V K MANIMARAN. Her launch of the first ever Classical Carnatic Music series on television MARGAZHI MAHA UTSAVAM was the biggest trendsetter for a different path in South Indian television.

Charumathi Raghuraman
Charumathi Raghuraman is a young and vibrant violin virtuoso gifted with a refreshing candour of combining the elements of traditional music from India’s exalted Carnatic tradition, with modern performance. She belongs to a special pedigree of artists who search for the beauty in creating and sharing the art as a live experience. A precocious talent, she started learning first from her mother Smt. Rama Raghuraman and then trained with Guru Smt. T.R. Balamani in Mumbai; at the suggestion of the iconic violinist of South India, Padma Bhushan Prof. T. N. Krishnan, Charumathi became his ardent disciple in 1995. She has also studied Carnatic vocal music with the renowned teacher Padma Bhushan Sri. P. S. Narayanaswami.

Aswini Srinivasan
Aswini Srinivasan started playing Mridangam at the age of six. Learning from the Legend Padmashri.Dr.T.K.Murthy, Aswini has performed more than 1800 concerts all over India and abroad. She has also played in many Taala Vaadya Concerts along with her Guru Shri. T.K.Murthy, other eminent personalities and has accompanied many well-known musicians. She is the youngest professional girl Mridangist in India. Apart from playing Mridhangam, she also plays Cajon, Rhythm Pad, Kanjira, Dholak/Dholki etc. She had been a part of ETHNO SWEDEN, where young musicians from over 19 countries came together and performed a concert in the famous BINGSJOSTAMMAN Music Festival, Sweden in 2022.

Aditi Krishnaprakash
Aditi Krishnaprakash is an accomplished violinist and one of the leading Carnatic classical violinists of the present generation. She began playing the violin at the age of 4 learning under violin maestros Vidwan H K Narasimha Murthy and Vidwan R K Shriramkumar. Aditi’s style of playing the violin is known for its aesthetic approach, rich tone and artful bowing. In 2011, at the age of 21, Aditi became one of the youngest violinists to receive an “A” grade from the All India Radio. Aditi is a much sought after accompanist and soloist. She has won the “Best Violinist” award from the Madras Music Academy three times.

Harshini Boyalla
Harshini Boyalla is an actor, theatre maker and folk artist based in Bengaluru. Her journey in Folk arts began with Devarattam and Paraiyattam under the guidance of Master Nellai Manikandan Ayya and Folk Tales Chennai and continued to practise the forms here in Bengaluru with Adavi Arts Collective. Her recent works have been children’s theatre with Rangashankara and Bangalore International Centre. She has been featured on Indian express as one of the city’s thriving theatre artists 2023. She currently is exploring films in the southern languages and is continuing to do anti-caste and women empowerment work through art forms.
